EmoFlow-AI is an evidence-based tool for understanding and regulating emotions. Built by someone who needed it, grounded in clinical research, and privacy-first by design.

Why I built it

My name is Larisa. I am a software engineer - not a clinician.

I built EmoFlow-AI while working through a hard time of my own - learning, between sessions, how to help myself. Every part of it began as a tool I made to get through that. It all started during a session with my therapist. She showed me the emotion wheel - and explained what was hiding beneath what I was feeling. It was so interesting that I started studying how it worked on my own. But every time after selecting emotions, I had to go search for what they actually meant - reading articles, making sense of terminology, trying to connect everything together. It was exhausting and time-consuming.

I decided to remove that tedious part - and make the interpretation arrive immediately, right at the moment you have just chosen what you feel. That became the beginning of EmoFlow-AI.

Then new questions appeared: what do you do with that understanding? How do you not just know what you feel - but actually do something about it right now? That is how a coach was added to the interpretation, then history and patterns, then the therapist report. It came from a frustration I knew well: every time I came to a session, I could not explain what had happened during the week. 'I was upset. I was angry.' - and most of it I simply could not remember. We started from zero every time, and the session ended before we managed to reach anything real.

Multilingual support was the very first thing I built. In sessions it was hard to name emotions in English when my native language is Russian - the right words just would not come. So EmoFlow learned to speak 8 languages - so you can name what you feel in the words that are truly yours. Later my therapist asked me to add Vietnamese for her clients, and now she uses my wheel right in her own sessions.

I built EmoFlow-AI because I wanted to arrive at sessions prepared. To know exactly what I had been feeling and why. To have words for what used to stay inside without a name. In a way, the whole app became my own path back to myself - and I'm still building it, adding the tools I needed first.

More than just an emotion wheel

Most emotion wheels give you a label - and that is it. EmoFlow-AI goes further. You choose what you feel - from 130 specific emotions, not just 'sad' or 'bad'. Each emotion in the wheel carries a scientifically grounded interpretation - the AI connects your specific combination of feelings and their context into a single picture of what is happening. A coach then selects a technique and guides you through it step by step - adapting to your responses, changing approach when something is not working, remembering what has already been tried. After several sessions, patterns emerge - themes, triggers, behavioral reactions. All of this can be shared with your therapist via a single link - in their language, with no login required on their end.

How EmoFlow-AI works with research

Every claim in EmoFlow-AI's materials is grounded in published evidence - peer-reviewed studies and recognized authorities such as the APA, NIMH, WHO, and Cleveland Clinic. Sources are cited and linked. Statistics and studies are never invented. EmoFlow-AI defers to the science and writes in plain language, so the research is actually usable. The mismatch-detection engine behind the AI interpretation is grounded in named psychological frameworks - Frijda's appraisal theory, Greenberg's emotion-focused therapy, Gottman's relationship research, and DBT - not a generic AI guess.

EmoFlow-AI's AI is not a generic chatbot

EmoFlow-AI does not improvise feel-good replies or invent advice. The AI runs on concrete algorithms and validated, research-based techniques: it reads your exact emotion and intensity, matches the right technique, and a coach guides you through it step by step. The aim is real help in the moment - not a chatbot to chat with. Unlike a general AI chat, it also remembers what worked and what you rejected between sessions - so it keeps adapting to you specifically, instead of starting from zero and just agreeing with whatever you say.

Keeping personal data private matters to me personally - so I made it a principle of the product from day one, not a checkbox. Your emotional data is yours. EmoFlow-AI is built privacy-first, with no third-party trackers or cookies; privacy-friendly analytics with no personal data. Data stays on your device. No ads, no data sales - ever.
